REWU urges mining employers and workers to be vigilant as COVID 19 continues to upsurge

The Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers’ Union (REWU) is once again urging mining and quarry employers and workers to take care as COVID 19 cases in the country continues to surge and that more efforts should be made to prevent the spreading of the pandemic.

Employers and mine site managers are reminded that in order to fight against spread of Covid-19 at working place, is mandatory to follow the health precaution measures given by the Government.

All workers should be checked their temperature and recorded before starting work, wash hands with soap and clean water or hand sanitizer gel, and wear face masks correctly, ensure physical distancing between workers and reporting any suspected case of COVID 19 to the nearby health organs.

REWU reiterates its call on the employers and workers to continue to comply with the guidelines issued by the Government to prevent the spread of COVID 19.

Also, REWU call on all Rwandans to fight against worst form child labor as well as sexual abuse.
