“I’m ready to play for Rwanda” Mitsindo Yves

Mitsindo Yves, who played for Belgium, confirms that he will play for Rwanda national football team “Amavubi” whenever he is selected.

The player has declared this, during his visit to Future for Hope Rwanda Football Academy located in Kinyinya sector, Gasabo district in the City of Kigali, this Friday December 24, 2021.

Though he once has been selected to play for Rwanda’s national team that was preparing the CECAFA U23 tournaments which was scheduled in July 2021, but failed to come due to different issues, including the fact that Rwanda decided to withdraw from the competition over COVID-19 concerns, the player has revealed that he is ready to play for Rwanda whenever he is selected.

“Last time I failed to come because I was dealing with my transfer (changing team from Charleroi to Mechelen) but today everything is settled and I’m ready to play for Rwanda if they select me” says the former Belgium U15 midfielder.

Top Africa News reporter asked him if it isn’t hard for him to play for Rwanda as he has played for Belgian U15 side, Mitsindo replied that “It is no longer difficult because terms have changed. Now you can even play for a senior national team and still be free to change it as long as you are still aged under 21”

Recalling to his visit at Future for Hope Rwanda academy, Mitsindo appreciated how young football players, at the academy, are being developed but mentioned the issue of infrastructures and materials as a barrier to a proper development of the players.

“What I have seen is that the academy has so many players but they only share one playing ground and also many of them don’t have boots but you see that they are happy and courageous”

“What is needed is to support them so that they can get enough materials which will help them to play in good conditions and maybe we can get future players among them.” Mitsindo mentioned.

Eric Tegibanze, the director of this academy, hailed Mitsindo for visiting and encouraging the young players to work hard so that they may reach their targets in football.

“It is a great privilege to have a professional player coming to visit our academy. Visits like this one help and inspire young generations not to give up as they are proved that all things are possible whenever you work hard.”

“We have talked with him (Mitsindo) and he has promised us that he is going to advocate for our academy so that we may get some sponsors from Europe.” said the Director.

Age 18, Mitsindo is currently playing for KV Mechelen U21 in the first division of Belgium football league. He has dual nationality (Rwanda and Belgium) and both his parents are Rwandese.

Among other team that he has played for include Anderlecht youth, Charleroi U18 and he has also been selected for the Belgium U15 national team which was preparing for European games in 2017.
