Uganda’s Lt. General Kainerugaba warns RNC not to dare using his country as its base to destabilize Rwanda

OUR REPORTER

Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the SPA/SO & Commander of UPDF Land Forces has warned leaders of Rwanda National Congress, an organization formed by Rwandan dissidents not to dare using his country (Uganda) to destabilize Rwanda.

Lt. Gen. Muhozi Kainerugaba has recently traveled to Rwanda to personally meet President Kagame, a move that led to positive steps towards the normalisation of Uganda-Rwanda Relations.

In a fresh Tweet made on Saturday, Lt. General Kainerugaba asked General Kayumba Nyamwasa and RNC what they have missed in RDF to turn against the ruling Rwanda Patriotic Front.

The tweet was welcomed by many Rwandans reminding Lt. Gen. Kainerugaba that the truth was there for a long time that RNC uses Uganda as its main base to destabilize Rwanda.

The RNC was formed by Rwandan dissidents led by former Rwandan Chief of Staff Nyamwasa — who now lives in exile — and former Rwandan former chief of intelligence Patrick Karegeya — who was killed in a hotel in Johannesburg in 2013, also in exile.

A report by a UN Group of Experts said Nyamwasa was recruiting fighters and stockpiling ammunition from Burundi, Uganda and the DRC.

It said the exiled general had frequently travelled from South Africa on recruiting missions for a newly formed rebel group called P5 — a sub-body under the RNC.

The group reportedly primarily operates in the South Kivu region of the DRC.
