Rwanda and Luxembourg Launch €5 Million Digital Skills Enhancement Project for Quality TVET Education
Kigali, 18 June 2024, The Government of Rwanda, through the Rwanda TVET Board (RTB), in partnership with the Government of Luxembourg through LuxDev, successfully launched the Digital Skills Enhancement for Quality VET project today at GS Rugando TSS.
The project, financed by LuxDev with a grant of €5,000,000, aims to improve the quality and access to TVET education across Rwanda by expanding the use of the Blended Learning approach.
Key achievements of the project so far include the procurement of 3,000 laptops for the blended learning pilot phase, the establishment of a Steering Committee chaired by PS MINEDUC, and the selection of 10 TVET schools to pilot the blended learning program.
The event was attended by various key stakeholders and partners, including a delegation from the Government of Luxembourg headed by Mr. Xavier Bettel, the Vice Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, and Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs in Luxembourg, who graced the event with his presence and officially launched the project.
In her welcome remarks, the Minister of State for Education, Hon. Irere Claudette expressed gratitude to the Government of Luxembourg for their support in implementing the “Digital Skills for Quality TVET in Rwanda.” Additionally, the Minister expressed gratitude to the Government of Luxembourg for their support in establishing a Center of Excellence in Agriculture, a project in its initiation phase.
The successful launch marks a significant milestone in the effort to enhance digital skills in Rwanda’s TVET education.
