Advancing Climate Resilient Agriculture: The 2nd Rwanda Science, Technology, and Innovation Conference 2024
The 2nd Rwanda Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Conference 2024 is set to kick off at the Kigali Convention Center (KCC) in Kigali, Rwanda from September 23rd to 24th, 2024.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Promoting Climate Resilient Agriculture Through Science, Technology, and Innovation for Improved Food Security and Nutrition,” highlighting the critical role of STI in advancing sustainable agriculture practices.
Dr. Eugene Mutimura, Executive Secretary of the National Council for Science and Technology (NCST), expressed his excitement for the event, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing climate challenges and promoting resilient agricultural systems. Participants from countries around the world, including the USA, UK, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, and more, are expected to attend the conference.
The two-day event will feature sessions on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, data science, IoT, precision agriculture, biotechnology, mechanization, and climate-smart farming techniques. Keynote speakers and panelists will share their insights on innovative solutions shaping the future of agriculture.
The Government of Rwanda, along with the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Board (RAB), University of Rwanda, INES University, and East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO), have provided crucial support in organizing the conference. The Scientific Committee and renowned experts have also played a vital role in ensuring the success of the event.
Dr. Mutimura encourages all participants who will attend to actively engage in discussions around promoting climate-resilient agriculture and closing the digital divide. The vision for the conference is to host it every two years, recognizing excellence in STI with prestigious awards for outstanding scientists.
Attendees will explore innovative solutions and strategies for transforming agriculture and food systems towards resilience and sustainability. With a focus on equity and innovation, the event aims to drive meaningful progress in addressing global challenges related to food security and nutrition.
