Arsenal Thrash Man City 5-1 to Keep Title Race Alive

Arsenal closed in on Premier League leaders Liverpool with a commanding 5-1 victory over Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium. With Liverpool extending their lead after a win against Bournemouth, the Gunners knew they needed all three points and delivered a dominant performance against the struggling champions.

Despite having played one more game than Liverpool, Arsenal’s emphatic win keeps them in contention for the title. City, much like in their previous match against Chelsea, made an early mistake when Manuel Akanji lost possession in the second minute, allowing Martin Ødegaard to convert Kai Havertz’s pass for the opener.

Havertz missed a golden chance in the first half, and City capitalized when Erling Haaland equalized with a header in the 55th minute. However, Arsenal quickly regained the lead two minutes later when Thomas Partey’s shot deflected off John Stones past goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.

The Gunners extended their lead in the 62nd minute as 18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly netted his first goal for the club, with Ortega unable to stop his powerful shot. As City continued to struggle, Havertz redeemed himself with a precise left-footed finish into the far corner with 14 minutes left.

The victory was sealed when 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri, brilliantly set up by Declan Rice, curled in a stunning shot to complete Arsenal’s dominant display.
