Rwanda and Denmark Strengthen Diplomatic Ties with New Embassy Opening

Kigali, Rwanda — On August 1, 2025, Denmark officially opened its new embassy in Kigali, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations. The transformation of the former Project Office into the Embassy of Denmark underscores a renewed commitment to collaboration in diplomacy, development, and trade.
Rwandan Ambassador to Sweden, Dr. Diane Gashumba, who has jurisdiction over Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland, welcomed the milestone. She stated, “A very warm welcome to the Embassy of Denmark in Rwanda and Ambassador-Designate Casper Stenger Jensen.” Gashumba and her colleagues in Sweden expressed enthusiasm about working closely to deepen Rwanda–Denmark relations across several sectors.
This development reflects a shared determination between Rwanda and Denmark to foster stronger cooperation and build a more vibrant partnership in the years ahead. The opening of the embassy is seen as a positive step toward enhancing mutual understanding and economic development between the two nations.
