The young ladies and gentlemen who gathered for this momentous occasion were taken through a series of educative and thought-provoking sessions. These focused on Rwandan cultural values and taboos (indangagaciro na kirazira), proper conduct expected from Intore (graduates of the civic education program), and the historical relevance of Itorero as a pillar of unity and national development. Participants were also reminded of the core activities they will undertake during this phase of Urugerero, including community service, environmental protection, hygiene promotion, and national heritage conservation.

As young women, we are learning that leadership starts with service. I am personally looking forward to working on hygiene awareness campaigns and environmental protection. I believe we can make a real impact.”

For many youths, Urugerero is not just a program it is a stepping stone toward purpose-driven adulthood. Jean Paul Niyonzima, shared his aspirations: “Through Urugerero, I hope to gain the discipline and skills that will prepare me for future leadership. I want to become someone who can bring change in my community. This initiative helps us build character and national identity.”

The Vice Mayor Aimé Niyonsenga emphasized the significance of Urugerero in building a responsible and self-reliant generation. He noted that beyond the hands-on activities, the platform nurtures critical thinking, patriotism, and a shared sense of responsibility among the youth.
