Burundi Secures U$156M Global Health Funding

The government of Burundi and the United States have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will secure funding for improvement of the country’s health sector.

Burundi will receive U$156million under a 5-year funding plan.

“This MOU represents a shared commitment to saving lives and protecting Burundians and Americans from infectious diseases, while also promoting an autonomous, self-reliant health system in Burundi, the US embassy in Burundi said on Monday.

“United States and Burundi signed a nearly $156 million five-year global health Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) through the AmericaFirst Global Health Strategy,” the embassy said.

For more than 20 years the US government and Burundi have been collaborating in the fight against HIV/AIDS and malaria, and this MOU will continue to build safer and healthier communities.
