British High Commission Kigali to host DiploCup 2026 with Government of Rwanda

The British High Commission Kigali, with the Government of Rwanda, will host DiploCup 2026, a mixed‑gender, family‑friendly football tournament for the diplomatic community in Kigali.

The event will take place on Saturday 28 March, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, at Zaria Court, Kigali.

DiploCup 2026 is a 6‑a‑side, co‑ed tournament focused on fair play, inclusion, and informal engagement between diplomatic missions. Teams will include embassies and high commissions accredited to Rwanda, alongside a team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MINAFFET).

The tournament is free to attend and open to diplomatic staff and their families, staff working at embassies, as well as members of the wider Rwandan and expatriate community. The tournament will be raising money for SheScores, a Women’s Football Empowerment Project in Rwanda.

The event reflects the role of sport in bringing communities together. It also demonstrates the UK’s longstanding commitment to using sport as a tool for connection, teamwork, and mutual understanding.

Matches will be played in a group stage followed by knockout rounds and a final.

Billy Stewart, Development Director at the British High Commission, said:DiploCup is a simple but effective way to bring the diplomatic and local communities together, using sport to strengthen relationships and encourage collaboration.”

Members of the public are warmly invited to attend and support the teams.
