Speaking during the congress, Habineza said the meeting was organized to refresh members’ understanding of the party’s principles and priorities while encouraging them to actively support the ongoing establishment of the party’s structures at the sector level.

“We brought together party leaders representing the five districts of Northern Province to reinforce the training they received last year and encourage them to play an active role in the party’s ongoing program to establish sector-level structures,” he said.

Habineza also urged members to contribute actively to national governance, environmental conservation, and the promotion of security within their communities.

He said particular emphasis was placed on human security, encouraging members to support initiatives that improve people’s well-being while safeguarding the environment.

“We also focused on environmental protection by encouraging members to conserve land and plant trees,” he said.

According to Habineza, the congress served as a platform for knowledge sharing among party leaders and members while strengthening the party’s organizational capacity at the provincial level.

The meeting also featured elections for the party’s Northern Province Youth Representative and a provincial advisor.

The Democratic Green Party said the congress forms part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots democracy, promote citizen participation, and build stronger party structures across the country.
