Green Party Establishes New Sector Leadership in Nemba and Ruhunde
The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR) on Friday continued its grassroots leadership program in Burera District, bringing together more than 250 party members from Nemba and Ruhunde sectors to elect new sector-level leaders and strengthen member engagement.
The event formed part of the party’s ongoing nationwide initiative to establish and reinforce its structures at the sector level.
During the meeting, Julienne Ingabire, the Democratic Green Party’s chairperson in Burera District, urged members to serve as ambassadors for the party by promoting its values and setting a positive example within their communities.
She also highlighted several advocacy initiatives that the party says it has championed, including calls for higher salaries for teachers, reforms to community-based health insurance contributions, and other issues affecting citizens.
Ingabire encouraged members in Nemba and Ruhunde to continue promoting the party’s achievements and to make greater use of social media to share information about the Green Party and its activities.
Members also received training on the party’s ideology and objectives from the Commissioner for Good Governance, who emphasized the principles and vision that guide the Democratic Green Party.
The meeting concluded with elections for the party’s sector-level leadership structures. Members elected representatives to the Sector Party Committee, the Women’s Committee, and the Youth Committee, with a total of 33 leaders elected in each of the two sectors.
The Democratic Green Party says the ongoing establishment of sector-level structures is intended to strengthen grassroots leadership, enhance member participation, and deepen the party’s engagement with communities across Rwanda.
