Kenyan Marathoner Kelvin Kiptum’s Record-Breaking Marathon Ratified by World Athletics

World Athletics, the international athletics governing body, has ratified the historic world record set by long-distance Kenyan runner Kelvin Kiptum.

Last October, Kiptum made headlines by running the fastest marathon in history.

He ran the Chicago Marathon in two hours and 35 seconds, shaving 34 seconds off the previous record set by elite marathoner Eliud Kipchoge.

The ratification of Kiptum’s record by World Athletics means that the governing body now recognizes it as accurate and in accordance with athletic rules and regulations.

The 24-year-old hopes to make history again in April by becoming the first person to complete an official marathon in under two hours at the Rotterdam Marathon in the Netherlands.
