Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Opoku-Agyemang, to Open eLearning Africa 2026 in Accra
Accra, Ghana | 01 June 2026: Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, is set to officially inaugurate eLearning Africa 2026, the continent’s leading conference and exhibition focused on digital education, training, and skills development. The event will take place at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra from June 3–5, 2026.
The Vice President’s role in opening the conference underlines the crucial national and continental importance of digital education, innovation, and skills development. African countries are currently striving to expand access to digital learning, strengthen educational systems, and prepare young people for evolving labor markets.
Held under the theme “Africa’s Time, Africa’s Terms: Learning for Sovereignty, Strength and Solidarity,” this year’s conference will explore how African countries can build the necessary capacity to design, govern, and scale digital learning systems that align with local priorities and realities.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang brings extensive experience in leadership and education to the event. She previously served as Ghana’s Minister for Education from 2013 to 2017 and was the first woman to be Vice Chancellor in Ghana, leading the University of Cape Coast from 2008 to 2012. Her presence lends particular significance to the discussions on sovereignty, skills, and Africa’s digital future.
The event is expected to bring together more than 1,000 participants from over 80 countries. Attendees will include ministers, senior policymakers, education leaders, business executives, development organizations, investors, and innovators.
A central component of the program is the high-level Ministerial Round Table, an invitation-only assembly of ministers and senior government representatives from across Africa. The overall program will also include over 80 sessions, more than 250 speakers, masterclasses, hands-on workshops, and an international exhibition showcasing education technologies.
The choice of Accra as the host city is symbolically important, as the city has long been regarded as a hub for Pan-African exchange and political thought, providing an appropriate setting for dialogue on Africa shaping its own digital and educational future.
