Museke TVET School Graduates 113 Youth with Practical Skills for Employment and Entrepreneurship
A total of 113 students on Wednesday graduated from short-term skills development programmes at Museke TVET School (Museke VTC), located in Nemba Sector, Gakenke District, marking another milestone in the district’s efforts to equip young people with market-relevant skills.
The graduates were awarded certificates recognizing the practical competencies they acquired, which will enable them to pursue both employment and self-employment opportunities.
Among the graduates, 87 students completed training in Tailoring, while 26 graduated in Leather Processing and Leather Products Manufacturing. The programmes were designed to provide hands-on skills that can enhance livelihoods, stimulate entrepreneurship, and contribute to the growth of the local economy.
The graduation ceremony was presided over by Gakenke District Mayor Mukandayisenga Vestine, who was joined by district officials responsible for education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Addressing the graduates, Mayor Mukandayisenga underscored the importance of practical and technical skills in empowering young people and accelerating national development.
“Technical and vocational skills are essential in enabling our young people to create jobs, foster innovation, and contribute meaningfully to Rwanda’s socio-economic transformation,” she said.
She encouraged the graduates to put the knowledge and skills they have acquired into practice, become job creators rather than job seekers, and seize opportunities within their communities.
The Mayor reaffirmed Gakenke District’s commitment to strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training by expanding access to market-driven skills development programmes that improve employability, promote entrepreneurship, and support sustainable community development.
The graduation of the 113 trainees reflects the growing importance of vocational education in Rwanda’s development agenda and demonstrates how practical skills training can open pathways to economic empowerment and improved livelihoods for young people across the country.
