Kinyinya Green City Construction starts by 2022

Official from Rwanda Green Fund (FONERWA) has revealed on Monday that the construction of Kinyinya/Kigali Green City is set to begin by 2022, TOPAFRICANEWS reports.
Florian MUGABO, Program Manager at Rwanda Green Fund has told Radio 1 that after the competition to select a company to do the design of the said city, a winner of the competition has emerged and soon waiting to sign a contract so that he/she can start designing the Green City on Kinyinya Hill.
Mugabo didn’t disclose the name of the winning company, however it is clear that soon it will be announced
In the meantime, Mugabo said they will start with few hectares formerly owned by RSSB on Murama Hill.
It is after the successful completion of the above-mentioned hill that they will also expand the city on over 600 remaining hectares on the whole Kinyinya Hill.
“We have the winner and we are going to sign contract so he can begin to design the city. This will be done within 18 months. So, this means that by 2022 we will start construction work.” Mugabo said
He reminded Kinyinya residents that the project is not coming to relocate them rather it is in place to be their own.
