Rwanda set to launch Mayaga Landscape Rehabilitation Project
Rwanda is set to launch an environmental protection project in Mayaga region, Southern Province. The area covers Kamonyi, Ruhango and Nyanza
TOPAFRICANEWS has learnt that the project will be launched in Nyanza District on Friday, October 23, 2020 at the launch of afforestation season which is an annual programme.
The project is said to be mainly about planting trees and forests in the area as part of the region’s rehabilitation initiative
The project also aims to assist the community in creating profitable projects and to provide them with energy saving cookstoves in order to reduce the pressure on forests and trees cut for firewood.
Also, this year Tree Planting season, every Rwandan is now encouraged to plant at least three trees in his or her home, including two fruits trees and one for home beautification.
Rwanda is one of the few countries in the world to invest in conservation and environmental protection.
