PHOTOS: Salesians of Don Bosco officially inaugurate an Immense Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Bujumbura

 

Salesians of Don Bosco in the African Great Lakes Province have officially inaugurated a gigantic shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Buterere, Bujumbura, the Capital City of Burundi.

The inauguration Ceremony took place on Saturday, 28th November 2020 at the presence of Christians, church leaders in Burundi, Salesians representatives from the Salesian administration in the region among others.

The Construction of the Shrine of Mary Help of the Christians in Buterere, Bujumbura was completed, thanks to the generosity of thousands of Italian benefactors coordinated by Salesian Father Ferdinando Colombo, the support of Ercole Lucchini, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, and the Superior of the AGL Province, Fr Pierre-Célestin Ngoboka.

The Eucharistic Mass and Blessing of the Shrine was officiated by Archbishop Gervasi BANSHIMIYUBUSA, of Bujumbura Archdiocese.

According to sources, the shrine will be a place of prayer and the center of devotion to Mary Help of Christians in the region, as well as a place of reconciliation and unity in this region of Africa which has known many wars and political conflicts.
