Rwanda: PS Karera reminds stakeholders to mark calendar for the upcoming key Environment Ministry, IUCN organized forums to start from Next week

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment Mr. Patrick Karera has reminded the Environment Sector working group and other people in general to mark their calendar for key meetings that was organized by the Ministry of Environment, IUCN and other partners to discuss the implementation of the environment sector’s strategic plan.

The Meetings which are scheduled on different dates starting next week include the third Africa Ecosystem Service regional conference taking place in Musanze from 8-10 June 2022 and expect to host at least 300 people.

The Meeting was organised by The Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) in partnership with the Ministry of Environment of Rwanda and IUCN in Rwanda.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Environment at the celebration of World Environment Day in Kigali on Friday, 3rd June 2022, Mr. Karera, the Permanent Secretary conveyed the Minister’s invitation noting that those who will attend the forum in Musanze can also use the opportunities to visit gorillas.

“I want to convey the message from the minister environment for you to mark the following dates on your calendar:  We are glad that we will be hosting some of the forums to discuss the implementation of our strategic plan.” He said.

 “The upcoming one is the third Africa Ecosystem Service regional conference starting next week on Wednesday, organised by the Ministry of Environment and IUCN to be held in Musanze.” He explains.

“Those that have registered we invite you to visit the gorillas. Those that will be able to follow it online please we will be glad to have you during the conference.” Mr. Karera added.

Apart from the above meeting, Mr. Karera also invited stakeholders to mark the calendar for the upcoming IUCN Africa Protected Areas Congress that will take place in Rwanda from 18th to 23rd July 2022.

As a reminder, this event is the first ever continent-wide gathering of African leaders, citizens, and interest groups to discuss the role of protected and conserved areas in safeguarding Africa’s iconic wildlife, delivering vital life-supporting ecosystem services, promoting sustainable development while conserving Africa’s cultural heritage and traditions.

The registration is open. Currently about 1600 participants globally have registered, but the registration is still open.

“So, we want to invite you to the Africa Protected Area Congress that will convene at Kigali convention centre on 18th to 23rd July, please register.” Karera said.

“Lastly, we want to invite you to the World Circular Economy Forum on 7th to 8th December here at Kigali Marriott Hotel. The registration will be open in the coming days. You are all invited most especially the private sector and all those companies in the World Circular economy businesses.” He adds.
