In a world where equal opportunities for education and a satisfactory standard of living are not guaranteed for all, the D&D Karuse Foundation is working tirelessly to bridge the gap for children from impoverished backgrounds.
Founded by siblings Karuse Ishimwe Delice and Derrick Karuse, with the unwavering support of their mother, Mrs. Ingabire Marie Ange Claudine, the foundation aims to ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has access to quality education and a brighter future.

On Sunday, December 10, 2023, the foundation organized a charitable event in the Catholic Parish of Gahanga in the Kicukiro District. They participated in a prayer service with the parishioners, spreading hope and love, before embarking on an act of compassion to raise funds for school fees for vulnerable children. During this event, the foundation successfully paid school fees for 23 children, but they soon realized the magnitude of the need was much greater.
Jean Bosco Ndayiragije, the representative of CARITAS in the Parish revealed that there are at least 300 children waiting for well-wishers to donate and help them secure an education. This alarming number highlights the urgency and importance of rallying together as a community to make a difference.
On the other hand, Ndayiragije mentioned that approximately 60%, of children’s issues can be attributed to the actions of parents.

He said that “When a child is mistreated, their development and learning are negatively impacted. Furthermore, if a family is in a dire situation, it often leads to poverty and a lack of self-sufficiency.”
“CARITAS, our organization, has embraced a new purpose for the past two years but faces numerous challenges. Many of you are aware of the struggles we encounter. Our parish is home to a considerable number of impoverished individuals, and it is our responsibility to address their needs. We must remember that one day, the Lord will question us about our actions towards others.” Ndayiragije said.

“Today, we are gathered here in support of the D&D Karuse Foundation, a family that has demonstrated compassion for children like those we have witnessed today. They have also extended their assistance to various individuals from different backgrounds who are present here. May God bless you for being inspired by their generosity and taking action before others.”
It was revealed that one of the challenges faced by the D&D Karuse foundation is the constantly increasing demand for assistance. Despite their best efforts, they often find that more people are in need than initially anticipated.

However, Karuse Ishimwe Delice and Derrick Karuse refuse to be discouraged. They believe that by uniting their strengths and working as a team, they can make a significant impact on the lives of these children.
To tackle this challenge head-on, the foundation is actively promoting their cause, urging others to join them in their mission. By spreading awareness and encouraging involvement, they aim to attract additional sponsors who can contribute towards reducing the overwhelming number of children in need.

“As you have witnessed, we initially started by personally funding the tuition fees for 23 children. We now have a minimum of 10 individuals who have generously volunteered to cover the tuition fees for an additional 20 children in the upcoming term. You can observe that if we had not promoted the charity event, we would not have managed to reduce the unexpectedly high number. Therefore, we believe that by promoting our efforts, we will be able to attract additional sponsors.” Karuse Ishimwe Delice, the Founder and Co-Founder of D&D Karuse Foundation said in an interview with TOP AFRICA NEWS.

The foundation also emphasizes the importance of giving back to the community and fulfilling their duty as recipients of blessings. By supporting children in need through CARITAS, they not only provide material assistance but also impart a sense of hope and resilience. The recent donation of biscuits, clothes, food, and other necessities is a testament to their commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of these children.
The inception of the D&D Karuse Foundation was inspired by Karusi Ishimwe Delice’s observations during her time in school. She noticed that children from single-parent households often struggled academically due to the challenges they faced outside the classroom. Determined to address this issue, she shared her idea with her brother, Derrick, who also witnessed similar struggles in his own school.
With the support of their mother, they embarked on this remarkable journey to create change. The foundation has already achieved significant milestones, including obtaining a certificate to operate in the country. Their vision extends far beyond their current boundaries, as they aspire to empower children to break free from the limitations imposed by their circumstances and realize their full potential.

Their Mother, Mrs Mrs. Ingabire Marie Ange Claudine stated that When my daughter informed me about this foundation, what did she desire from me? Firstly, I was in favor of it as I genuinely adore children. Additionally, I feel empathy towards children who endure a difficult life, particularly those living with single parents. I embraced the idea wholeheartedly and made the decision to offer my support.”
“As you witnessed, we initially had twenty-three children, but eventually, the number increased to about forty children. This was due to the participation of everyone. I also have a strong desire to support and help. We have planned numerous activities that will motivate and encourage.” She said.
“We aim to become a solid foundation and serve as the voice for children, with the help of those who are willing to support them.” She added.

“We don’t have much money. However, we have the willingness to support. Supporting doesn’t necessarily require money, especially a large sum. It’s about having a compassionate heart. Even if you have limited resources, you can still share them with others. Most importantly, you can be a catalyst, someone who actively supports children. Usually, people consider supporting, but who will take the initiative to advocate for the children? That’s what I aspire to do.” Mrs. Ingabire said.
It is through the support and generosity of individuals like you that the D&D Karuse Foundation can continue its vital work. By joining hands with this compassionate organization, you can help transform the lives of countless disadvantaged children, giving them a chance at a brighter future. Together, we can unite hearts, change lives, and build a more equitable world for all.
