Nyagatare: Community trained on Child and Adults safeguarding, thanks to World Vision, REWU partnership

In an effort to promote child protection and education, the training conducted by the Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers Union (REWU) continued in the Rwimiyaga sector on January 17, following its successful implementation in the Karangazi sector of Nyagatare.

With an impressive attendance rate, the training session shed light on the crucial role played by REWU in safeguarding the welfare of children, while also highlighting its partnership with World Vision in fostering community development. The union emphasized the importance of collaboration between stakeholders to ensure a better future for the younger generation.

During the session, the head of education in the sector reiterated the vital role parents play in their children’s education and emphasized the need to address the issue of school dropout. Parents were reminded of their responsibility to support their children’s educational journey and discourage early withdrawal from school.

To discourage parents from taking their children out of school prematurely, the head of education also highlighted the introduction of fines for such actions. This measure aims to emphasize the significance of education and encourage parents to prioritize their children’s academic development.

The training session in the Rwimiyaga sector showcased the commitment of both REWU and World Vision towards child protection and community development. By working together, these organizations aim to empower parents and communities to create an environment that promotes education and discourages dropout rates.

The training concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing their gratitude for the valuable insights provided by REWU and World Vision. The collaborative efforts of these organizations are expected to have a lasting impact on child protection and education in the Rwimiyaga sector, ultimately contributing to the overall development of the community.
