Rwanda’s Amavubi Team Heads to Madagascar for Friendly Games

The coach of the ‘Amavubi’ national team, Frank Spittler Torsten, has announced the 26 players he will use for the two friendly matches against Madagascar and Botswana on March 22 and 25, 2024.

38 players were called, but after a week spent in retreat, where they practiced in Nyamirambo and Bugesera, those who should go with the team were selected. Among those players are those who play on teams inside the country and those outside Rwanda.

The players trusted by Coach Frank Spittler Torsten include Runbangula Steve, Tuyisenge Arsène, Mugisha Gilbert, Iraguha Hadji, Hakizimana Muhadjiri, Gitego Arthur, and Biramahire Abeddy.

There are also Ntwari Fiacre, Muhawenayo Gad, Omborenga Fitina, Ishimwe Christian, Manzi Thierry, Niyigena Clement, Mitima Isaac, Nshimiyimana Yunusu and Niyonzima Olivier ‘Seif’.

Among these players, some foreign players did not fly with the others to Kigali, where it is planned that they will meet with the others in Antananarivo, where all the two games will be held.

Rwanda will take advantage of these friendly matches to prepare for the third and fourth days of the 2026 World Cup bid, where Amavubi will visit Benin and Lesotho in June this year.

In Group C, Rwanda is in the lead with four points, followed by South Africa with three points, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Benin with two points, and Lesotho in last place with one point.
