East Africa Pharma and Biotech Conference taking place from 13 to 14 June 2023 at Kigali Convention Centre in Rwanda

Many African countries are seeking to strengthen capacities in biotechnological and pharmaceutical research, development and production. Efforts underway include the regional harmonisation of regulatory procedures, the establishment of training centres, technology transfers and the increase of Research & Development capacities. These undertakings rely on strong partnerships and knowledge exchange on the continent.

Rwanda hosts the African Medicines Agency and the first mRNA vaccine plant on the continent. Because of this, the Central African country provides an ideal platform for exchange and connecting pharmaceutical and biotechnological research, development and production initiatives in Africa.

This year, the Government of Rwanda, represented by the Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) are convening the East Africa Pharma and Biotech Conference in Kigali, Rwanda.

The East Africa Pharma and Biotech Conference will take place from 13 to 14 June 2023 at Kigali Convention Centre in Rwanda.

The conference’s aim is to strengthen the network among experts from industry, government, academia, civil society and development cooperation, to create a peer group and leverage experiences for the continuous development of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector in the region.

Participants can expect keynotes from high-level experts and Government representatives, interactive discussions in focused breakout sessions, the showcasing of selected initiatives, in-person networking opportunities and visits to different locations in Kigali, amongst others the Special Economic Zone, the University of Rwanda and the Rwanda Food and Drug Authority (Rwanda FDA).

Invest for Jobs supports the Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) in the realisation of the conference.
