Rwanda to Host 6th World Congress on Agroforestry in 2025

Rwanda is set to host the 6th World Congress on Agroforestry in Kigali in 2025, bringing together over 1,500 delegates from various sectors to advance the practice of agroforestry. This event will play a crucial role in promoting agroforestry socially, scientifically, and environmentally.

Socially, the World Congress on Agroforestry will provide a platform for researchers, academia, development partners, and both private and public sectors to come together and exchange knowledge and ideas. This will help raise awareness about the importance of agroforestry in sustainable agriculture and rural development.

From a scientific perspective, the congress will showcase the latest research and innovations in agroforestry practices. It will provide a space for experts to discuss and collaborate on ways to enhance productivity, resilience, and sustainability in agroforestry systems.

Environmentally, agroforestry plays a crucial role in mitigating climate change, conserving biodiversity, and improving soil health. By bringing together key stakeholders, the World Congress on Agroforestry will help drive investments and support for agroforestry initiatives that have a positive impact on the environment.

Organized by the International Union for Agroforestry (IUAF), the Ministry of Environment, the Rwanda Forestry Authority, and the Rwanda Convention Bureau, the congress aims to create a lasting legacy in terms of partnerships, investments, and impact. It will also produce a global agroforestry roadmap to guide future efforts in promoting sustainable agriculture through agroforestry practices.
