Governor of Eastern Province Encourages Women to Use Their Value to Build Strong Families
The Governor of Eastern Province, Pudence Rubingisa, urged women to reflect on the progress made in the past 30 years and to use their value to contribute to a society free from conflict and crime.
This call to action was made on Sunday, June 2, 2024, following a women led mass sport that brought together over 1000 women from various sectors of Nyagatare District.
The event, which included a general exercise starting at the Kiyenzi road junction and ending at the Nyagatare District Stadium, highlighted the importance of women’s role in building strong families.
Governor Rubingisa commended the women for their achievements and emphasized the need for them to continue playing a pivotal role in shaping family dynamics.
Acknowledging the government’s efforts in promoting gender equality, Governor Rubingisa stressed the significance of focusing on family well-being.
He emphasized the importance of women taking an active role in nurturing their families and communities, thereby preventing issues such as drug abuse that could lead to criminal behavior.
In addition to participating in athletics and basketball games, the women underwent health screenings to ensure their well-being.
Governor Rubingisa expressed gratitude to all participants and encouraged women to continue engaging in family discussions and involving their husbands in finding solutions to challenges faced by their families.
