Rwanda's First Female Pilot Inducted into International Society of Women Airline Pilots

Rwanda’s Ambassador to the United States, Mathilde Mukantabana, congratulated Captain Esther Mbabazi on her recent induction into the Captain’s Club of the International Society of Women Airline Pilots. Captain Mbabazi, who is Rwanda’s first female pilot, was honored for her achievements at a ceremony in Virginia, US.

Captain Mbabazi has made significant strides in her career, having flown RwandAir’s Airbus A330 and CRJ 900 as a First Officer. She is now set to embark on her next journey as she takes command of the Boeing 737 fleet.

The U.S Ambassador to Rwanda Eric Kneedler also expressed his congratulations to Captain Mbabazi, highlighting the importance of women breaking barriers in the field of aviation. “We are pleased to see females flying high in the field of aviation,” he said.

Captain Mbabazi’s induction into the International Society of Women Airline Pilots serves as an inspiration to young women in Rwanda and beyond, proving that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. Her achievement is a testament to the progress being made towards gender equality in traditionally male-dominated industries.
