Democratic Green Party Reveals Vision for Rwandans as Presidential Campaign Begins

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR) kicked off its national electoral campaign for the upcoming presidential and legislative elections on June 22, 2024, in the Jabana sector of Gasabo district in Kigali City. The party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Frank HABINEZA, along with 50 party candidate deputies, were met with enthusiastic applause from the local population who turned out in large numbers to show their support.
During the event, Jonas SHEMA, the executive secretary of the Jabana sector, welcomed the Green Party members and praised their commitment to presenting social projects that aim to foster sustainable development in Rwanda. He thanked the party for choosing their sector as the starting point for their electoral campaign.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement and optimism as the DGRP set out to engage with Rwandans and offer them a choice for a better future.

Jean Claude NTEZIMANA, the party’s Secretary General, recounted its journey from its formation to its entry into the Rwandan parliament.
In 2018, the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda presented deputy candidates and won the votes to allow two of them to have two seats in the Parliament: Hon. Dr. Frank HABINEZA and Hon. Jean Claude Ntezimana, and Senator Alex MUGISHA in the senate, who have been in this position for six years.
Dr. Frank HABINEZA, the presidential candidate, addressed the Jabana population, asserting that his party’s manifesto has achieved over 70% content, a challenging task to denigrate.
His party in Rwanda’s parliament achieved significant achievements, including a reduction in property tax from 300 Frw/m2 to 80 Frw/m2 and a change in land rental title from 20 to 99 years.

Habineza plans to become President of Rwanda with projects including food self-sufficiency, reforming the agricultural system, limiting provisional imprisonment, creating a compensation fund for incarcerated individuals, promoting UN support for genocide survivors, and addressing the 22% youth unemployment problem.
Habineza urged for support to address unresolved issues and promote progress by voting for him and his MPs to eliminate injustice.
“We believe we can fulfill these pledges, building on our past achievements. That is why we are asking for your votes,” Habineza declared.
The competition features Paul Kagame from FPR-Inkotanyi, Habineza Frank from the Green Party of Rwanda, and Mpayimana Philippe as an independent candidate.
