Mukura: Authorities Commend DBYEA’s Efforts to Support Disadvantaged Youth

The Mukura Sector in Huye District has praised the activities undertaken by the Don Bosco Youth Education for All (DBYEA) NGO, recognizing their significant contribution to aiding low-income youth and ensuring inclusive access to education.

This acknowledgment was reiterated on Monday, July 14, 2025, when DBYEA distributed school supplies to approximately 300 children from disadvantaged families in Mukura Sector. The supplies included notebooks, pencils, mathematical Sets, and other educational materials, all aimed at encouraging children’s love for learning and helping them steer clear of negative habits.

Manishimwe Niyonzima, the Education Officer for Mukura Sector, expressed his appreciation, stating, “This activity is a blessing. We thank you for supporting our youth in Mukura Sector. We are very grateful, especially in the area of education, which I represent.” He further noted that since the establishment of the Don Bosco Youth Center in Kabuga, Sahera, there has been a notable reduction in homelessness among children. “When children come together to learn, play, and engage in values-based discussions rooted in Christian principles, it fosters their love for school and reduces dropout rates. Since this center opened in 2023, we have seen a significant improvement,” he added.

He also highlighted the center’s role in distributing school supplies to children from poor families, helping them access education with the necessary materials. “We received shoes, notebooks, and other supplies, all of which enable disadvantaged children to study effectively,” he said. “We are deeply grateful to the Don Bosco Youth Education for All Association for their partnership in enhancing the quality of education among our youth.”

Father Bashemezimana Thierry, the outgoing Manager of the Don Bosco Youth Center in Sahera, shared that since its inception, the center has focused on youth awareness campaigns, including fighting drug abuse, encouraging cleanliness, supporting education, and providing entertainment. He noted a steady increase in youth participation over time and emphasized ongoing efforts to expand capacity to support more children in need.

On behalf of the DBYEA Management, Mr. Dusabimana Felicien urged youth to develop a love for school and uphold positive values such as cleanliness. He also called on parents to play an active role in their children’s education, assuring continued advocacy and support for underprivileged youth to help them attain their goals.

Beyond educational initiatives, DBYEA also champions human rights—particularly children’s rights—promotes sports and cultural activities, and aims to foster unity and friendship among Rwandans. Additionally, the organization emphasizes environmental conservation and raising awareness to promote sustainable development, better living conditions, and healthier lives for all Rwandans.
