Independent Presidential Candidate Promises Village Leader Salaries and Landmark Hotel in Rutsiro District
Independent presidential candidate, Mpayimana Philippe, made promises to the people of Rutsiro District during his campaign stop at Congo Nile Centre. He pledged to set salaries for village leaders and build a model hotel on the hill that divides the Nile River from the Congo River.
Speaking at Congo Nile centre in Gihango sector, Rutsiro district on July 5, 2024, Mpayimana emphasized the importance of rewarding village leaders for their work. He also highlighted the significance of Rutsiro as the confluence of two major rivers in Africa, proposing to build a landmark hotel that would attract tourists.
Mpayimana’s plans were well received by the people of Rutsiro, with one resident expressing support for his focus on development and progress. Another resident called for additional initiatives such as building a university and establishing a car and gas station in the district.
In addition to addressing economic issues, Mpayimana promised to prioritize worker rights and ensure timely payment for overtime work. He stressed the importance of valuing workers and investing in the country’s economy.
Following his campaign stops in Karongi and Rutsiro districts, Mpayimana is set to continue campaigning in Rubavu and Nyabihu districts on July 6, 2024.
